The club was formed in 1981 meaning that we have had 35 years in local football. Over the years we are very pleased to have had a degree of success, with some of the highlights of our short history being in the 1980's and 1990's. The club continues to combine enjoyment of the game and building good teams with a view to further successes.
The "Roll Call" of past players who have worn our colours is very impressive and some are listed below:
- Adam French - VSA/Purfleet Grays/East Thurrock
- Mel Graybur - Southend/Purfleet/Romford
- John Heffer - Southend/Leyton Orient/Barking/Great Wakering
- Steve Heffer - Southend/West Ham/Swindon/Dagenham
- Gary Howard - Brighton/Great Wakering
- Martin Lawrence - Southend/Chelmsford/Purfleet
- Jamie McMullian - Fulham

- Iain o'Connell - Southend/Dover/Margate

There are of course many others and their contribution to the Ekco club has been much appreciated. Over the years there have been several changes to the club. When Ekco Whitecaps was first formed it was only for boys, then we formed a girls team and eventually a senior (men's) team. Hence the change from Ekco Whitecaps BFC to Ekco Whitecaps Football Club.
Our aim is to continue to serve the local community in sport for a long time into the future!
