Mornington Boys Profile

Mornington Boys YFC provides organised football coaching and competitive matches for boys (and girls) between the ages of 4 and 18. It currently has teams competing in the South East Essex Primary (Mini Soccer), Thundermite & Southend & District Junior Leagues.

We also have two senior (men's) teams, Mornington FC's first team and reserves, who both compete in the Southend Sceptre League.

The Club was re-established in May 2007 by the current Chairman and Mini Soccer Academy Director Kevin Gray.

Mornington Boys FC was originally established in the mid 1970's since when several of its teams have gone on to win many league and cup honours at County level.

Until recently, Mornington Boys most successful period was probably in the late 1980s and early 1990s when their Under 12 and Under 13 squads (which included ex Olympic Decathlete Dean Macey and Neal Carey, a current member of the club's coaching staff) won the league and cup double two seasons running.

In 2008, our Under 13's won the Thundermite Premier League title as well as the League Cup final to complete an historical "double". In the same season, the Club's Under 10's won the Thundermite league in their first season together.

In 2011/2012, the Club won five league titles including our Under 11 "Whites", Under 12's and Under 16's who completed a fantastic "double" with a 3-1 League Cup Final win at Roots Hall Stadium (the home of Southend United FC).

Another five titles were won by the Club between September 2012 & April 2014, including our Under 9 "Tigers" and Under 11 "Blues".

For season 2017/2018, we have 20 teams and approximately 210 players playing in the familiar royal blue Nike club strip.

Mornington Boys describes itself as a friendly, family run club and prides itself on playing attractive, passing football.

The Club's motto has become "My Dad played for Mornington Boys" because it's a fact!
