Tandridge Youth Football League Profile

THE TANDRIDGE YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE IS AN FA CHARTER STANDARD SUNDAY YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE THAT PROVIDES AFFILIATED FOOTBALL TO BOTH BOYS AND GIRLS AGED 6 YEARS TO 17 YEARS OLD

WE HAVE RECENTLY INTRODUCED GIRLS ONLY FOOTBALL.

FOR FURTHER INFORMATION PLEASE CONTACT;

League Secretary Derek Harris 020 8668 3535 Email drharris@sky.com

There has been some movement around the grassroots game with Robbie Savage putting questions forwards at the Government Question time, and whilst both the minister and scientists sounded very positive they did not really give any indication as to when we might move forward.

We thought that we may give you an update on what is happening around the League.

League AGM

The League AGM was originally planned for Monday 8th June, but we are moving this back to Monday 20th July in the hope that by then we may have some positive guidance on social distancing, and when we might resume training. We are planning to present the AGM through a virtual platform and whilst the League has been using Microsoft Team for Committee meetings of up to 20 people, we will have to ramp this up to over 150 for the AGM and look at a method for voting. We will write again when we know the more.

Club Affiliation

Thank you to the 28 Clubs which have completed their applications, unfortunately it looks like many Clubs may miss the 1st June deadline, there are also 4 new Clubs to date. This year the application system has been eased to help you in these uncertain times, we are not asking for any deposits, the fees are discounted to £20 per team which will be invoiced at the appropriate time, Clubs will not be penalised if they fail to fill teams.

Player Registration

Whilst the new seasons Registration cards are available, there is no point in them being issued if you are unable to meet with the players. There are however tasks that can be completed within social distancing, you can migrate your players and add new players to OKS and you can ask your players to ensure that they have the two passport photographs required in readiness. As a precaution this year we would advise you to hold onto last season's Player Registration card, we may have to start the season with these. (Team managers will hopefully have kept their player ID cards handy because even in a 'normal' year, we ask you to return the old ID cards when submitting the new Registration Cards for the next season).

Girls Only Football

Following the successful venture into Girls Football last season we are looking to increase the opportunity for girls to play across all the age groups, we have had some success in finding new Clubs but we do need more Girls teams to make the League more attractive. If you are looking to start up a girl's team then please give the Tandridge Youth League some consideration. The Girls section has a working party which meets regularly to improve the level of competition and get the girls into the correct formats.

Club Affiliation

Most of the County Football Associations, like the League are offering discounts for the new season, the Surrey FA are not charging any affiliation fees whilst the London FA are not charging Youth Clubs any team fees. There are also other concessions such as extending the DBS certificate to 4 years if it requires renewal in 2020, they have also relaxed the need for CWO's, Team Managers and Coaches to have DBS clearance prior to Affiliation process but these roles must be compliant before the season starts.

League Committee Members

We regularly advertise the need to increase the size of the Committee. Over the years Committee Members have occasionally left and their roles have had to be absorbed by others. This year is no different. Sue Dalziel has stood down after 19 seasons on the committee mostly covering Player registrations, I am sure that you will all join us in thanking Sue for her dedication. Other Officers who are currently covering multiple roles have asked to be relieved of some of the roles, so we are very keen to invite new committee members to join us.

We have vacancies in Player Registration, Fixtures and Competition Roles. The Competitions Officer Role would suite anyone who has good planning and organisation skills and is a team player. Please contact Derek Harris if you have some spare time and can help make this League even better.

* Sport England Community Emergency Fund: may be of interest to clubs with fixed costs which are no longer supported with revenue as a result of coronavirus.

Finally, all members of the Committee would like to send everyone in your Club, our sincere best wishes for the weeks and months ahead as we all face the threats associated with this wretched virus.
