Good News! FA UPDATE dated 18th July. The FA have issued Guidelines for the return of outdoor competitive Grassroots Football.

“The FA confirm that the UK Government has approved its plan for the return of outdoor grassroots football. As a result, the grassroots football community now has the opportunity to return to football and prepare for the start of the new season.”

However - A return to competitive football should only happen once clubs and facility providers have COMPLETED the necessary risk assessments AND comprehensive plans ARE IN PLACE.

Clubs, players, coaches, match officials, league officials, volunteers, parents/carers, spectators and football facility providers should read The FA’s full guidelines in addition to the latest Governmet guidance on Covid-19

 The FA plan for the return to competitive football activity is as follows:

Until 31 July When ready, you can begin competitive training, with the overall group size (inclusive of coaches) being limited to 30 people;

From August – Competitive matches to begin, for example pre-season fixtures, festivals and small sided football competitions;

From September – Grassroots leagues and FA Competitions can commence.

League AGM - The League AGM was postponed until Monday 20th July in the hope that by then we may have some positive guidance on when the new season may begin and the social distancing requirements. We are planning to present the AGM through a virtual platform using Microsoft Teams.

Club Affiliation - Thank you to all the Clubs which have completed their applications. If you have not yet submitted Forms TAN 1, TAN 2a and TAN 2b please do so as soon as possible.

This year the application system has been eased to help you in these uncertain times, for example we are not asking for any deposits with your applications and our annual team entry fees have been reduced to just £20 per team regardless of format. Invoices for fees will be issued at the end of July.

Player Registration - Teams have been able to meet for controlled training for some time now and subject to the latest requirements will soon be able to increase their activities. We now need to turn our attention to completing the registration process for players. All Clubs should now be in receipt of the blank player registration cards for 20/21 and some teams have already submited their completed registrations. How are you getting on?

Girls Only Football - Following the successful venture into Girls Football last season we are looking to increase the opportunity for girls to play across all the age groups, we have had some success in finding new Clubs but we do need more Girls teams to make the League more attractive. If you are looking to start up a girls team then please give the Tandridge Youth League some consideration. The Girls section has a working party which meets regularly to improve the level of competition and get the girls into the correct formats.

Club Affiliation - Most of the County Football Associations, like the League, are offering discounts for the new season and there are also other concessions such as extending the DBS certificate to 4 years if it requires renewal in 2020.

League Committee Members - We regularly advertise the need to increase the size of the Committee. Over the years Committee Members have occasionally left and their roles have had to be absorbed by others.
We have vacancies in Player Registration, Fixtures and Competition Roles. The Competitions Officer Role would suite anyone who has good planning and organisation skills and is a team player. Please contact Derek Harris if you have some spare time and can help make this League even better.
