A Message to Parents

Parents play an extremely important role in the smooth running of a football team and there are a number of things that you can do in order to help the team run as effectively as possible.

Touchline Behaviour

There is a massive amount of focus on the behaviour of the touchline and parents should remember the following:

  • Support and encourage good performance from both teams
  • Don't coach or give instructions to your own or any other child, leave this to the coaches. A child can get confused if he/she is receiving conflicting advice from the touchline
  • NEVER use foul language
  • Don't question the referee's decisions
  • Don't enter in to any sort of touchline "banter" with opposition parents

Before the game

Please arrive at least half an hour before any game. This is important, as it allows the coaches to:

  • Warm up the players
  • Discuss the tactics of the game

Your assistance is setting up the equipment (goalposts, flags, ropes, etc) is greatly appreciated by the coaches. It allows us to focus on the players and the forthcoming game.

After the game

Please do not leave immediately after the game, unless absolutely necessary. We always attempt to get all the players together after the match, in order to:

  • Review the game, what we did well and what we need to work on
  • Highlight significant performances and effort that individuals have made
  • Present the Man of the Match award

Your assistance in putting away the equipment (if it is the last game on the pitch) is greatly appreciated.
