Appleton AFC Profile

Appleton AFC (formerly Appleton Boys AFC) has been established for 45 years, celebrating its 45th birthday in the 2018-2019 season.  We were established by local parents in the season of 1973-74. For the 2018/19 season, we have 34 teams spanning 11 age groups from under 7’s to under 17’s, plus a training academy for the U5’s to U6’s and a growing number of girls teams that compete in the Cheshire Girls League..

Appleton AFC are proud to have attained FA Charter Standard Community Club status in 2012. This is the pinnacle of the FA Grassroots club Development Pathway. Every team has at least one coach who has passed the FA's Level 1 in Coaching Football accreditation; all are CRB vetted and have attended workshops in Child Protection and Emergency Aid training. We hold our own FA Level 1 courses at our venue and host FA Charter Standard Workshops at our Pavilion.  In 2017 the latest batch of coaches completed their level 1 accrediation.

Appleton promote the FA Respect campaign and the FA Soccer Parent Award. Sportsmanship, positive behaviour of all adults and children and equal opportunities are encouraged. Abuse of any kind will not be tolerated at our venues. We believe that development and retention of children playing Football can only be achieved in a positive, non-threatening environment. Documents to help all soccer parents are available in the Forms and Documents section, as well as details of the new playing formats. Appleton embrace these and we have purchased new goals for the teams playing 9v9 at Under 11 and Under 12 age groups.

Appleton AFC play on three pitches close to the Pavilion at Pewterspear and a map of our locations can be seen by clicking on the "Venues" tab on the left hand menu   We also play some of our home games at a number of 3G facilities in the Warrington area.

Appleton are proud to have FA Community links with local Primary schools, Stretton St Matthews, Broomfields, Grappenhall Heys, Appleton Thorn and St Wilfreds. We have run after school coaching sessions at these venues. Appleton welcomes players from all local schools whose parents wish them to develop at a friendly club with great facilities and a committee keen to promote best practice, Please see our own website for details (see below)
